As you already know I’m sure, Coconut oil is extremely healthy. But, did you know that at one point it was deemed dangerous for anyone worried about heart disease?
A long time ago coconut oil was believed to be dangerous because of saturated fat. Yet, now it is believed to be one of the most healthy substances. But, how exactly did such a dramatic change come about?
Back in the 1970’s people had been led to believe that saturated fats would make them overweight. Making people think they should avoid butter, animal fats, coconut oil and other things of the sort. The people were told that if they consumed these saturated fats their LDL cholesterol would be raised and this would clog ones arteries and lead to the development of heart disease. While a study done liking heart disease with saturated fats, they also added trans fats into the same group as saturated fats. Trans fats are fat molecules that have been completely transformed. They have been made completely different through hydrogenation. They are most definitely liked with heart disease and many other health problems. But of course since then evidence has arose putting this myth down and letting people know that coconut oil is in no way a bad thing.
